Anyway I just got an email from someone who I gave access to my website
ip logs, and this guy really knows his stuff, so I thought I'll let him
double check on a couple of ip's.
There are loads of interesting ip's since I have started logging, including
someone from Israel, France, Germany, Kuwait, Oman, (lots from) Egypt,
UK, USA, Universities, NASA (yeah, that's right), Companies involved
in telecoms etc etc, a research center in silicon valley.. etc etc etc,

but then there is also one we found recently from http://www.cyveillance.com/
I'll paste the email he sent me, on the website today. It'll be an interesting
read :) "

It is hard to tell until either you get access to the full log files,
or add more environment variables to the log file program.

The only "interesting" IP is 63.148.xx.xx

Qwest is just a big (bankrupt/revived/merged) telecomms and internet
bandwidth company, but Cyveillance is in the business of "e-Business
Intelligence".

i.e. some of it legitimate market intelligence on competitors, unauthorised
distributors sell "grey market" imports, trademark name vioating websites
etc. They run their own web spiders like google etc, but customised for
their clients.

But they also do

demonstrations or attacks
• Controlling classified information that has leaked into the public
domain
• Protecting citizens from online fraud and sales of counterfeit goods

• Protecting citizens from deception resulting in the revealing of personal
information or identity theft
• Identifying the promotion or use of child pornography
• Assisting in compliance activities such as monitoring for whistleblower
information
• Searching for numerous other dangers impacting the public that arise
on the Internet every day

Obviously the fact that they are based in Arlington Virginia i.e. directly
between the Pentagon in Washington and CIA, Fort Meade National Security
Agency etc. would have no bearing on these purely "business" Intelligence
gathering activities - yeh right !
